Well...
The creator is going to do what the creator is going to do.
Fate is going to do what fate is going to do.
Don't count on prayers. Don't count on spells.
Sometimes trying to breathe new life in a dead relationship is like resurrecting a corpse.
Sigh...
I'll do what the man needs...and give him more space.
I made progress today!! For the first time in eleven years, I got him to promise to send his elderly mother money for household help if one of us won the lottery.
That's a much better response than 'when it snows in Hades'.
I bought three tickets and didn't even win $2.
I tried. His mother won't talk to him. That's why our marriage died eleven years ago. If he'd just make the effort to think of her once, maybe she'd stop being so nasty to him.
Maybe...it's worth a shot.
Yes....
I'm still pissed at all those freakin' conservatives that want to change the contract we agreed to twenty years ago. It was a civil ceremony, not a religious one. We may end up pushing the divorce just to get away from the potential government regulation of marriage.
Which will only make the problem worse.
Marriage reform is not a dead issue.
I know what the government is tying to do. They are trying to privatize poverty. Guess who they've recruited for this task? Father's Rights groups. They are promising men that their divorce reform will make it damn near impossible for frustrated women to leave marriages and save them tons of money on child support and alimony.
That isn't going to happen and you know it. If they re-establish patriarchy under the guise of protecting marriage (aka discriminating against same sex couples) while claiming that a woman's place is in the home in order to lower the unemployment rate - guess who is going to pay for this privatization of poverty?
It won't only be women and children if that happens. Men will have to pony up even more of their wealth. This will make it harder on second spouses in terms of lost household wealth, too.
The Father's Rights crowd is a little bit short-sighted there.
If you're not an abusive guy, give it some thought. These neo-cons are not on your side. They're trying to make men marry the mythical welfare queens so they can say that they've cut social service costs. Most people on food stamps work. Most women on TANF work. They have to
Many of the men who father the children of women on welfare are incarcerated.
If we'd stop incarcerating so many of our young men for frivolous reason, perhaps poverty wouldn't be as much of an issue. And, if we'd stop making people on welfare and prisoners work for free, there may be more jobs for the rest of us.
Think about it.
And the lions share of the costs associated with social service programs come from the administration of them (read bureaucracy).
If they do manage to pass a divorce reform bill, they are promising to leave an out for adultery in all the divorce reform attempts made (unless both sides cheat). So, if one has a Polaroid and does not mind getting nasty with people they barely know (shudder....that's a hard thought for someone with OCD), the marriages can end anyway.
I wonder if someone can teach a woman how to look like she's having fun without risking itchy scratchies or coming close to smelling a stranger's questionable breath.
Maybe, all one truly needs are acting lessons and a lot of make-up. I guess I could start a charity catering to the needs of women who need to get an A painted on their foreheads in order to escape her hubby's flying fists.
Would Photoshop work? Hmmm.....
We'll see.
Stupid neocons, stop dancing around in your libtards. Now, people like me are too scared of your idiocy to help your campaigns. Some of you are far too dangerous for DC; maybe we'll take our chances with the idiots running our economy into the ground and catering to the UN. We may not be able to afford our heating and health care costs if the Democrats stay in office but at least women and children in abusive situations have a better shot at survival.
If the Republicans can reign in their dummies, I'll reconsider.
Love,
S.
When I was a devout Christian, I would tell people that Jesus didn't want us to go around thumping other people in the head with clubs. Good Christians are supposed to glow with the unconditional love of Christ and lead by example. They are supposed to make people want to live the fulfilled lives they have due to their adherence to the gospel.
Then, I married an atheist.
He's gotten better. He's a pagan now. At least now, he believes in a God (or two).
Go figure...
